WebRTC Leak Check

Am I leaking my real IP through WebRTC?

Browsers may expose your local or public IP through WebRTC even when a proxy is active. IPCombo collects the ICE candidates and tells you which are visible.

What is a WebRTC leak?

WebRTC negotiates peer-to-peer connections. To do so, it gathers local and reflexive IP addresses. Some browsers expose these even when a proxy is in use, defeating the proxy's privacy.

What the candidate types mean

host = your device's local IP, srflx = the public IP your NAT exposes, relay = the IP a TURN server hands out. srflx candidates are the ones you usually want hidden.

Frequently asked questions

  • Should I worry about WebRTC leaks?

If you use a proxy for privacy, yes. A WebRTC leak can reveal your real public IP to any site that runs a few lines of JavaScript.
  • How do I disable WebRTC?

Most browsers expose a flag (e.g. about:config → media.peerconnection.enabled in Firefox, or an extension in Chrome). Disabling WebRTC also breaks video calls in your browser.
  • Why does IPCombo collect my IP via WebRTC?

We use it for diagnostics, not tracking. All probing happens in your browser. The collected IP is not uploaded unless you explicitly share a report.
