Which services work best in each region, the local pricing context, and the recommended proxy type.
๐บ๐ธ United States
The US is the gold standard for service availability. Every major AI, streaming, and productivity service ships in the US first. If a service has a region restriction, the US is almost always in the supported list. The catch: many services (especially streaming) blacklist datacenter US IPs, so you need residential or mobile.
๐ฏ๐ต Japan
Japan is the second-priority region for nearly every service, especially AI. ChatGPT, Claude, and Sora all serve JP at full feature parity. The anime and J-Pop catalogs on Netflix JP and Apple Music JP are larger than anywhere else. Latency from East Asia is the lowest of any non-CN region.
๐จ๐ณ Mainland China
Mainland China is a special case. Domestic services (Bilibili, iQiyi, NetEase Music, DeepSeek, Kimi, Doubao) are reachable directly. Most foreign services (Google, ChatGPT, X, Netflix, Spotify) are blocked at the network layer. A working configuration is a smart-routing proxy: domestic direct, foreign via HK/JP/SG/US exit.
๐ช๐บ European Union
The EU is the third major region. Most AI services support at least DE, FR, and NL. Streaming catalogs are smaller than US but cover the major Western titles. EU IPs are essential for EU-only services (some banking apps, some EU-licensed streaming) and for compliance-heavy services like Stripe and Wise.
๐ญ๐ฐ Hong Kong
Hong Kong is the most-used exit node for mainland China users, and for good reason. From HK, latency to most of mainland is under 30ms via CN2/CUGIP lines, while every major foreign service is reachable. English and Traditional Chinese are both first-class. The legal and payment environment is friendly to overseas services โ Stripe, Wise, and PayPal all work without workarounds. The catch: HK residential IPs are scarce and expensive (small population, strict carrier consent), so for most use cases mobile is the practical pick. Streaming services treat HK as part of their APAC tier โ Netflix HK is small but complete, Spotify HK has the full global catalog, and Disney+ HK is the regional default for English-speaking Asia.
๐ฐ๐ท South Korea
South Korea punches well above its weight on the global service map. Naver, Kakao, NHN, and Krafton all run tier-1 infrastructure from Seoul, and most foreign AI services have full KR support with low latency. K-content โ K-pop, K-drama, K-variety โ is most authentically served from KR IPs: Netflix KR is the day-and-date window for KBS/MBC/SBS originals, and Spotify KR has the deepest K-pop catalog. Gaming services (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, plus KR-only Krafton/NHN titles) all work at full speed. The downsides: KR Netflix is locked to KR-only content (you lose access to US/JP originals unless you switch), Korean payment methods are strict, and residential IPs are tightly controlled โ most good KR IPs are mobile.
๐ธ๐ฌ Singapore
Singapore is the cleanest, most business-friendly Asian region. Every major AI service runs tier-1 infrastructure in SG (OpenAI APAC, Anthropic APAC, Google Asia-South), and Binance.com, OKX, and Bybit all serve SG fully โ it's the de-facto crypto capital of Asia. Stripe and Wise have full SG support, including SGD payouts. The English-only environment means zero friction for global SaaS. The one big gotcha: Netflix SG is among the smallest catalogs globally (about โ of US), and Disney+ SG is roughly the same size โ don't use a residential SG IP for streaming, only for local content and banking. SG mobile is the gold standard for crypto-grade work.
๐ท๐บ Russia
Russia runs one of the world's most aggressive internet-filtering regimes. Since 2022, Roskomnadzor has throttled or blocked Instagram, Facebook, X, and most Western media; ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and most other foreign AI services are also unreachable from Russian IPs without a proxy. Domestic services (Yandex, VK, Mail.ru, Sberbank, Wildberries, Avito) work at full speed. Telegram and WhatsApp remain technically accessible but are throttled. The reliable path is a foreign proxy exit paired with DNS-over-HTTPS to a non-Russian resolver.
๐ฎ๐ท Iran
Iran runs the most filtered internet in the world after North Korea. Tens of thousands of sites are blocked โ Instagram, WhatsApp, X, YouTube, ChatGPT, Spotify, most major AI and SaaS โ and the government has periodically shut down international connectivity entirely (notably during the 2019 protests and 2022 Mahsa Amini protests). Domestic services (Digikala, Snapp, Tap30, Aparat, Namava, Filimo) work normally and use Iranian payment rails. The reliable path is a foreign proxy + DoH; mobile traffic is often blocked harder than fixed-line. Starlink and similar satellite services are illegal in IR.
๐ฆ๐ช United Arab Emirates
The UAE runs a content-filtered network that targets voice/VoIP (FaceTime audio, WhatsApp calls, Discord voice are restricted), dating apps, gambling, and adult content. The good news: data speeds are world-class, most global AI and SaaS services work normally, and payment rails are excellent. Dubai (AE) is the de-facto Gulf exit โ used by Saudi, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain residents who want full internet. The catch: voice/video calling apps require a workaround (paid VoIP license or a SIP trunk), and any service that does gambling or dating compliance will reject AE IPs.
๐ง๐ท Brazil
Brazil is the largest LATAM market and a major consumer-internet hub. WhatsApp is the de-facto messaging standard (Meta routes through BR infra), Mercado Libre dominates e-commerce, and Globoplay has the deepest Portuguese-language catalog. PIX has become the default payment rail across LATAM. AI services mostly work but some (Anthropic, Midjourney) require a non-residential BR IP. Streaming catalogs on Netflix BR and Disney+ BR are smaller than US but cover the major global titles; Globoplay's novelas and BBB streams are BR-only.
๐ซ๐ท France
France is a tier-1 EU market with strict privacy regulation (CNIL, GDPR) and a deep French-language content ecosystem. ARTE, Canal+, Deezer, and French public broadcasters all serve FR IPs at full quality. Most AI services work in FR (DE/FR/NL are the three primary EU AI regions). The catch: French copyright law (HADOPI / ARCOM) drives aggressive geo-blocking โ Canal+ and beIN Sports don't work outside FR, and many French Netflix originals are FR-only. Streaming services also gate FR-language content by IP to enforce licensing.
