Low-latency Asia hub — default exit for mainland China

🇭🇰 Hong Kong

Hong Kong is the most-used exit node for mainland China users, and for good reason. From HK, latency to most of mainland is under 30ms via CN2/CUGIP lines, while every major foreign service is reachable. English and Traditional Chinese are both first-class. The legal and payment environment is friendly to overseas services — Stripe, Wise, and PayPal all work without workarounds. The catch: HK residential IPs are scarce and expensive (small population, strict carrier consent), so for most use cases mobile is the practical pick. Streaming services treat HK as part of their APAC tier — Netflix HK is small but complete, Spotify HK has the full global catalog, and Disney+ HK is the regional default for English-speaking Asia.

Service reach

ChatGPT HK, Claude HK, Gemini HK, Grok HK, Sora, Suno, Midjourney, Netflix HK, Disney+ HK, Spotify HK, Apple Music HK, YouTube Premium HK, Stripe, Wise, PayPal, Binance (served via SG infra, not HK entity), OKX, Telegram, X, Discord, GitHub. HK is the only Asian region where the full Stripe + Wise + PayPal stack is reachable without workarounds. Crypto exchanges serve HK customers from SG-side infrastructure — Binance and OKX both work.

Best for

Limitations

  • OKX no longer serves HK residents directly — use SG exit
  • HK residential IPs are scarce and cost 2-3x US
  • Netflix HK catalog is one of the smallest in Asia

Pricing context

YouTube Premium HK is HK$73/mo (~$9.30) — about ⅔ of US price. Spotify HK is similar to JP, Apple Music HK is mid-range. Stripe fees are 2.9% + HK$2.35 (same as US). Most other services are US-priced in HKD, so HK is rarely the cheapest — it wins on payment + latency, not on sticker.

Proxy tip

HK mobile (CMHK, SmarTone, 3HK, csl) is the practical sweet spot — abundant, mid-priced, and passes most AI/streaming checks. HK residential exists but is expensive; reserve it for banking-grade work. Avoid HK datacenter (PCCW, HKBN, Alibaba HK, Tencent HK) for any service that does ASN reputation — they're widely flagged as proxy traffic.
